ABOUT ABOUT

Unleash the expressive power of your hands!
Instructor: Brad Shur, PST Artist in Residence

Four sessions, July 9 - 30
Monday nights, 6:30 to 8:30 pm

Glove puppetry is one of the world’s oldest, most versatile theatrical traditions. From the acrobatic Monkey King to Punch and Judy, all glove puppeteers must master the art of bringing characters and stories to life using only the expressive power of their hands.

In this fun and rigorous class, PST's Artist in Residence Brad Shur will guide participants through drills designed to improve coordination and expressivity. Starting with basic exercises for manual dexterity and building towards complete character-based scenes, students will acquire a movement vocabulary that allows their hands to express almost any emotion or action. Participants will also gain exposure to PST's unique archive of professional glove puppets and will be able to experience working behind a glove puppet stage. Whether you're a seasoned performer or just looking for a way to enliven story time, this boot camp will leave your hands ready for action!
